Bunnyrabbits
Program Overview
The bunnyrabbit program is geared toward children under six years old. The program is aimed at introducing children to cross country skiing and a healthy, active lifestyle through organized activity and active play. The program also helps children develop a positive self image, make new friends, have fun, and develop fundamental movement skills.
When? Where? How Much?
Lessons are held at the Doug Barnes Cabin on Saturdays at 11am. The program starts in January, and runs for 8 weeks.
For insurance reasons, students must become a member of the Ptarmigan Nordic Ski Club. Youth membership fees are $15 for the year (or $40 for the entire family). Bunnyrabbit program fees are an additional $15 per child. This cost covers CCA youth program registration fees, 8 lessons and any additional youth activities organized through the club.
To register, simply fill out a youth registration form and medical form, and submit the forms and program fees to the PNSC. Both the registration and medical forms can be downloaded by clicking the link at the bottom of this page. You can mail your membership form to the ski clubs postal address, or bring them with you on the first lesson day.
Where do I get skis?
The PNSC has skis available for bunnyrabbits to use during the season. There is a $50 deposit for the skis, which is returned at the end of the season when the skis are returned. This includes skis, boots and poles.
Parent involvement
Parents are expected to help with clothes and equipment, joining in classes and games, and arranging refreshments. Parents are also encouraged to become certified instructors by taking the training courses arranged by the ski club.
