Youth Medical Form

JackRabbit and TrackAttack Prep

Program Overview

The jackrabbit program is aimed at children ages 6 to 8 and TrackAttack Prep for ages 8 -9.  The emphasis of the program is for children to develop ski techniques in a fun environment.

Children are taught basic cross country ski skills, both classic and skating. The program is designed to instill a lifelong enjoyment in the sport of cross country skiing. In addition, children develop confidence, ski and socialize with other skiers their age, build on their overall motor skills development, and above all, have fun!

When? Where? How Much?

Jackrabbit lessons are held at the Doug Barnes Cabin on  Tuesdays and Saturdays. The program runs from December to March for JackRabbits and mid November to March for TrackAttack Prep.

For insurance reasons, students must become a member of the Ptarmigan Nordic Ski Club. Youth membership fees are $25 for the year (or $50 for the entire family). Jackrabbit and TrackAttack Prep program fees are an additional $40 per child.  To register, simply click

Where do I get skis?

The PNSC has skis available for jackrabbits to use during the season. There is a $100 deposit  (postdated cheque) for the skis, which is returned at the end of the season when the skis are returned. This includes skis, boots and poles.

Parent involvement

Parents are expected to help with clothes and equipment, joining in classes and games, and arranging refreshments. Parents are also encouraged to become certified instructors by taking the training courses arranged by the Ski Club.
